Game Of The Week
Every week, from here on out, throughout the 2008-2009 football season I am going to pick a “Game of the Week.”
The purpose of this post is to talk about a match-up that I think is the most significant out of all the scheduled NFL games that are going to be played the following Sunday.
After looking at the schedule, my pick for the Game of the Week is …
The Washington Redskins at The New York Giants
Thursday, 7 p.m. — NBC
Reasons Why:
1. It’s the opening night of the 2008-2009 football season, so it’s going to draw a crowd. There are always notable music performers scheduled for the halftime show and all the hoopla surround the opening game of the season is getting bigger and bigger each year.
2. The New York Football Giants. After winning in stunning underdog fashion last winter against a Goliath-like opponent, the Giants are ready to show everyone (fans and analysts alike) that they are more than just a flash-in-the-pan, once-in-a-blue-moon football team.
3. The match up itself is appealing. There’s been a rivalry between these two teams for quite some time now, so the game is going to be packed with plenty of emotion and hype. The fact that it’s opening night will only add to the drama.
4. Jason Campbell — Let’s see what this kid can do!
PS – While this isn’t necessarily a football blog, it is football season. So expect a few more football posts that usual. But have no fear. I’ll be talking about plenty of other sports in the mix. This blog is for girls who dig ALL sports (ahem … especially football!!)
